Bambino Staying On Key In 2012

Fresh from an electrifying performance at Sumfest’s beach party, Jamaica’s king of parody and renowned resident Zip Jock, ZJ Bambino, whose real name is Orrett Hart Jr. is making strides in 2012.

He proved that he is one of Jamaica's most respected emcees when he was voted Selector of the Year at the Youth View Awards in February. When asked how he felt, Bambino said, “It is a great feeling! Especially knowing that the youth are listening I know I can be more of a positive influence on them.”

Shortly after receiving his award, Bambino took his turntables to Trinidad carnival for the third consecutive year. While there, he reveled in the festivities as he deejayed and played at the varying events including Carnival Monday and Tuesday on the Island People Truck, an experience which was made possible by sponsors Tara Couriers and FX Trader.

The trip also allowed him to pass on the “true” Trinidadian experience to Jamaicans when he returned to be a part of Jamaica carnival as he was able to unveil the latest soca music to a very receptive and responsive crowd at the new Mas Camp several Fridays and the famous Beach J’ouvert in Ocho Rios.

Bambino has also engaged in a number of commercial advertising campaigns such as KFC I-Twist , Digicel Flagship Store and CY Clothing. His distinctive voice can also be heard on radio advertisements of Honey Bun, Tastee, Grace Tropical Rhythms, Appleton, ATL, Mighty Goat Cereal just to name a few, and not to mention numerous party ads.

The prominent ZJ's expertise was utilized when he became a distinguished judge on Digicel's Rising Stars and his alter ego Trevor Off-Key was on Honey Bun's School Tour alongside Protoje.
Bambino has a number of projects he hopes to bring to fruition before the year is out. With that said, his alter ego, Trever Off-Key plans to release a “mix tape” at the end of the summer. Among the songs are two unreleased singles voiced on his two new “riddims” that he is currently finalizing in is Music Box Studio.

One of the riddims is entitled the “Gyal Season Riddim” which he is working on alongside Antiguan producer, Jus Buss. He stated that the riddim comprises of a sample taken from the old school hit “Don’t Stay Away” by Phyllis Dillon and has been fused with soca, reggae, alternative and dancehall beats to procure an eclectic blend. Fans can expect artistes such as: Keida, Tessanne Chin, Denyque, Tanya Stephens, Etana, Sophia Squire, Busy Signal, Romaine Virgo, Spragga Benz, Jus Ice, Drastic, Kenne Blessin and Kes The Band to be on the riddim.

Bambino is also slated to play at various parties during the Epic ATI Super All-inclusive series over Emancipation Weekend. The ZJ will be spinning at NAKED on Friday, August 3rd, COLOURS on Saturday, August 4th, and STAGES on August 5th. He promises that fans can expect to hear something different complete with the usual “fun” entertainment he is known for providing.

Despite his intense workload, Bambino has also found a way to give back to society. He has done so through Youth of the World (YOW), which was co-founded by manager, Delroy Escoffery. Albeit in its fledgling stage, it is expected to take flight this summer as it was created to sponsor children who cannot afford the necessary school supplies for the upcoming school year. Bambino and Mr. Escoffery have teamed up with corporate Jamaica to bring this plan to fruition.

In response to how he has managed to maintain the balance between what appears to be a hectic work schedule and his family life, the ZJ humbly declared he, “just have to work it.”

He also agreed that he has an understanding family and this has undoubtedly given him the opportunity to do what he loves best and what fans loves most about him… music. Therefore, fans can rest assured that Bambino is not likely to go off key anytime soon. Stay tuned, he will be hosting the biggest TV show later this year!
