Protoje delivers from Behind The Screen

Bringing his own soulful, roots rock reggae vibe to the Behind the Screen stage, fast-rising star Protoje left an indelible mark on his audience at Usain Bolt's Tracks and Records on Tuesday night.

Paying tribute to Jamaica's 50th year of Independence, Protoje opened with I Pledge my Heart Forever before launching into JA.

Known for his soul stirring lyrics, Protoje, backed by his Indiggnation band, told the audience that dancehall artistes did not have monopoly on lyrics. He then delivered hits from his debut album Year Itch, including Dread, Roll, Arguments, The Seven Year Itch and Wrong Side of the Law.

One of the more noticeably positive responses of the night came when Protoje delivered his hit single No Lipstick, Protoje educating the audience on proper 'herb etiquette'.

The audience also chimed in and helped Protoje to sing happy birthday to the fastest man alive, Usain Bolt.

Wooing music fans with his charm, Protoje invited up-and-coming artiste Kabaka Pyramid to the stage and together they delivered a powerful performance of their collaborative single Warrior.
Protoje also shared the stage with singer Jah9. Artiste Keida also joined Protoje on stage, the two delivering their single Style a Style.

The Rasta Love hitmaker made his mark at the Tracks and Records lounge and must have made new fans after his nearly hour-and-a-half set.

It was pandemonium when the artiste launched into Rasta Love. Fans were enchanted by the soulful nature of the track, the customary singalong depicting the shared sentiment.

Protoje excited the crowd with his onstage antics and had them begging for more. The artiste also promoted new singles, including Who Dem a Program, Take Control and This is not a Marijuana song.
