Local record label Cashflow Records have taken on another aspect of
entertainment. The record label has collaborated with local cable
station Hype TV, to execute a unique music-based reality TV show called
'Cashflow Invasion'.
Known for producing hits including Realest Medz by Konshens and Wine by Baby Cham, featuring O, Cashflow Records has been growing and broadening its entertainment scope ranging from music production, DJs, video directing and now a reality show.
The Cashflow Invasion concept involves a weekly tour of local recording studios which exposes viewers to the life behind Jamaican music through the lens of producers and artistes.
Main stream media
Cashflow Invasion started out as a YouTube programme, however, due to its huge fanbase, the producers decided to spread their wings to main stream media.
"We were invited to take the show to main stream media after Talisa Taylor of Hype TV saw it and said she loved it and that it would get good attention. We just took it as a joke initially but she was serious, so we took up the offer and that is how it all happened," said Cashflow's Kevin Slaughter, who is also the host of the show.
"We have a studio and a camera and we are normally in the studio for long hours so we just videotaped our life and called it Cashflow TV. This wasn't planned, it just happened, and right now we feel great to see how far it came and everybody is excited," he said.
Senior producer at Hype TV Talisa Taylor also had high hopes for the show.
"This show is very special because viewers will get a chance to see the lighter si
de of the music industry. It's all about the reality behind music. Cashflow is a great family to work with and if it's one thing Hype TV's management is about, that would be young talent, and Cashflow definitely has that package," Taylor said.
Creative content
The managing director of Hype TV, Johann Dawes, revealed that the station is ready to accommodate and showcase new creative content from producers.
"Hype TV is willing and capable to be the window for independent content producers to showcase their programmes. We have done so in the past and we want to continue doing so on a larger scale. We are impressed with Cashflow's talent and we are happy to have them on board," Dawes said.
Cashflow Invasion will be aired on Hype TV on Thursdays starting October 22, 2012, and will repeat on Fridays and Saturdays.
Cashflow Records recently released a new rhythm compilation called Lunch Bag rhythm, which features Lady Saw, Beenie Man, Khago, I-Octane, Elephant Man and others.
