Rising Reggae Singer Asfa has climbed into the top ten of the Jamaica Top 25 Reggae Charts with his debut single Not The Life.
The hard-hitting single on the newly released Question Rhythm Various Artists Compilation on the 619 Entertainment/VP label, now sits at number 8.
His growing popularity is not confined to his native shores as attested to his appearance on several international charts. Not The Life a biting piece of social commentary was number 1 for two weeks on Bess FM culture charts, is number 7 on Jacksonville Reverberation chart, number 10 on Jamdown Vershun Reggae charts in Australia and also made its entry at number 29 on the New York Top 30 Reggae Chart.
When asked why his career has taken off after only releasing his first single just six months ago, Asfa said: "I have been putting off what I love for too long and now is the time to go full speed ahead."
He also credits his manager Roger Grant who formerly managed Natural Black and has done work with many artists including Louie Culture and Lukie D.
Asfa is also receiving rave reviews from many quarters for his fresh sound from music business alumni such as Clinton Lindsay, Ralston Barrett and a glowing profile of him being ran in the Reggae Festival E-Guide.
He is also putting the finishing touches on his album titled Journeying and is also prepping a second single Take A Look as a follow-up on his label Jecoliah Entertainment Production. He is scheduled to deliver the Jamaican National Anthem as well as some of his original songs at the Oliver Samuels-led play Who A Di Don, which will tour the Eastern United States later this year.
