Black-er opens 'Bun Factory'

Black-er is at it again. The deejay who is known for doing popular dancehall songs that defend the perspective of the female population has a new single called Bun Factory.

"The song ah go hard pon the radio, people all start link me fi dub already fi Christmas. Ron Muschette a beat it on IRIE, it ah play pon HITZ 92, pon Suncity Radio, this week. Johnny Kool endorse it, so it is a great look. Black-er is back!" Black-er said in a release.

Black-er's name popped up recently in the news when Mr Vegas did a song which suggested that his babymother, Shelliann McBayne, decided to cheat on him because of Black-er's infamous Bun Him collaboration with Macka Diamond several years ago. Black-er felt that he had to respond, and so Bun Factory was born. However, he turned down Mr Vegas' invitation to appear in a video to promote Vegas' Bare Tingz.

"Vegas' people dem call me fi go inna him video fi represent the part weh say him woman follow Black-er and Macka and bun him, but I am not appearing in that video. Mi no waan nobody blame me fi dem woman ah gi dem bun. Ah the woman just find the right opportunity and right time fi bun dem man because of neglect, abuse or dissatisfaction. Mi and Vegas no have nothing, but mi no waan nothing fi do wid da label deh," he said.

He said that he is turning attention towards promoting Bun Factory.

Bun Christmas

"The woman ah ask the man dem, which bun dem waan National or Maxfield, because the woman dem say ah Bun Factory and it ah go be a Bun Christmas," he said.

Black-er is now the host of a cable programme called 'Blacker's Top 20 video countdown" on LINKS TV on Flow channel 394 which airs every Saturday between 2 and 4 pm, with multiple repeats during the week. It is one of the highly rated programmes, regularly outstripping other similar rivals on Flow stations like Pree Dis.

"Ah the baddest ting pon cable tv. people from all over the island ah watch it, it de everywhere, anybody come on and give out dem number, it get mad feedback. ah the biggest local entertainment programme pon local cable right now," he said.

The deejay-turned-tv-host was one half of the duo Alton Black and Blacka Ranks in the 1980s, before Alton Black died in a car accident in New York.

Blacka Ranks returned to Jamaica and jump-started his solo career. He struck gold with a massive worldwide hit, a collaboration with Macka Diamond called Bun Him, as well as singles such as Donkey Nuh Bite Yu on the Black Scorpio label, and Two Man, a collaboration with a female artiste called Barbee Doll. He subsequently changed his name to Black-er, a name that has stuck to him ever since.
