Mello Vibes stole the show

On a night which had over four separate events in Kingston, it is safe to say that Mello Vibes stole the show. Having passed two partially empty party venues en route to the New Mas Camp at the National Stadium's parking lot, from as early as midnight Mello Vibes already had an estimated 2,000 patrons.

While not falling into the Halloween hype, the promoters of Mello Vibes managed to use the same old formula with some old-school music and landed safely in the hearts of their supporters once more.

ZJ Johnny Kool started the early excitement by dropping popular singles such as Wild World by Maxi Priest and No No No by Dawn Penn. The singles had patrons singing and the DJ didn't bother to cheer them on, letting quality speak for itself.

Songs from Barrington Levy and Sanchez also created good entertainment atmosphere, and patrons sang in approval to every selection.

At 12:30 a.m it was Crazy Chris from Kool FM that had the responsibility of taking the party to a next level, and that he most certainly did.

The DJ started off with Greetings from Half Pint, followed byNuh Put It Deh by Peter Metro. These songs were more up-tempo and patrons could be seen bouncing to the beat.

Crazy Chris also dabbled in the war zone playing a few clash songs from dancehall icon Ninja Man. The songs were well accepted by the audience.

At 1 a.m, the DJ decided to treat patrons to international music and pop songs like Best Of My Love by Emotions and Madonna's Like A Virgin which had the audience literally kicking up pebbles on the dance floor.

At 1:15 p.m the patrons were taken by surprise as the DJ went for some gospel selections starting with Beeine Man's Gospel Time, followed by I Saw The Light by Gospel Bluegrass. However, the song that had the audience doing the ancient Bruckings dance move, was the negro spiritual single Sit Up On The Heavenly Throne.
