ANTHONY Clarke, 17-year-old St Mary High School student, won the Tastee Talent Trail title held at the company's Cross Roads open-air theatre in St Andrew, last Thursday.
From a field of six, the lanky teenager took the $1-million top prize and became the first deejay to hold that title since the competition became a TV event in 2007. His performances of Love Girls and Three Hundred Catty scored big with judges and audience.
St Elizabeth native Ozana Lindo took the first runner-up spot which saw her winning $500,000 while 'dark horse' Renaldo Meikle took third place.
Meikle, a song writer and guitar player, stood out with his two powerful original tracks Abused Woman and Hard to Let Go. The 29-year-old walked away with $150,000.
Last year's top three Patrick Brown, Kaydene Anderson and Camalla LaTouche also performed at the event.
The Unique Vision band did backing duties while the judges were Amelia 'Milk' Sewell, Oral Tracey and recording artiste Queen Ifrica.
All finalists were presented with gift packages from Pepsi and the contest was sponsored by Tastee, Pepsi, TVJ, FAME, Sparkles, T-Shirt Express, and Kosmo Tours.
