Out of many feuds, one clash at Sting 2012

Sting 2012 was built on the foundation of clashes, and despite the fact that patrons had to stand several hours to see some action, the promoters did deliver on their promise.

With several feuds in the dancehall circle, patrons expected that a clash would have been forthcoming from as early as 1 a.m., but despite the numerous name calling, no artiste dared to take up the microphone and challenge their rivals.

Khago, who was involved in a lyrical battle with Sizzla Kalonji a few months earlier, stayed away from a war at Sting. The singjay delivered a solid set of hits from his budding catalogue but never once called Sizzla's name in a disrespectful manner.

Sizzla later performed a long set, but he was more at war with the gay community. He too did not attempt to call out Khago.

Bounty Killer did not extend his services to Sting this year, but patrons were at least expecting to hear Tommy Lee Sparta taking shots at him at Jam World. But the young deejay avoided war entirely, he even sang the controversial Goat Head single without addressing Bounty Killer nor actually saying the words 'Goat Head'.

Appointed time

The first daredevil for the night was Ryno who threw a challenge to Popcaan who he has been at odds with since his exit from the Gaza camp. However, what could have matured into an exciting face-off between the former Gaza members turned sour when Popcaan offensively rejected the challenge.

Even Macka Diamond, who told The WEEKEND STAR that she would pay Spice to clash her, did not turn up at the appointed time. Spice, on the other hand, travelled to Sting in full war attire with a donkey which she referred to as Macka Diamond, but after several attempts to call Macka Diamond onstage, the artiste left the venue.

"Mi nah mek unno style me," Spice warned during her exit.

The real warfare came at 7:30 a.m. when KipRich and mentor Ninja Man challenged Tony Matterhorn and Merciless in a tag-team clash. KipRich, however, flipped the script and opted to clash both Tony Matterhorn and Merciless at once. After several rounds of hard-hitting rhymes, KipRich was selected as the winner by the audience, but the audience needed more.

In an effort to fulfil this need, KipRich turned his lyrical guns on Ninja Man, who welcomed the challenge, stating that clashing KipRich was merely a test of his ability to go up against a veteran like himself.

The two then exchanged some freestyle lyrical blows, both getting favourable responses from the crowd. In the end, it was declared a draw, with both artistes going home with championship belts, while Merciless and Tony Matterhorn were left empty-handed.
