"Out of many one people" was born Latrar Scott and out of her love and passion for music "Lala the Pink Doll" came to life.
Hailing from the musical land of beauty, Latrar was born in Kingston, Jamaica. As with any true artist, her musical gift from God was discovered early in her life. From the tender age of 8 years old, Lala discovered the joy that music not only brought to her soul, but also touched those around her.
Immigrating to America at an early age, Lala became influenced by various musical genre. Residing in Queens, NY she was still surrounded by her Caribbean roots of Reggae and Dancehall, but turning the dial on the radio and television exposed her to R&B and Hip Hop. Thus she mentions Diana King, Lady Saw, Patra, MC Lyte and Monie as some of her early inspirations.
It is from that eclectic mix of music that she found her authenticity. Lala feels it, she writes and sings from her soul. Although the subject varies, it comes from her every day life and surroundings, fashion, men, hardship or party... just lyrical honesty!
The name Lala The Pink Doll derived from her childhood nickname Lala paired up with her love for fashion. Her cute smile and Angelique face, her sense of style is reminiscent of a doll. It is undeniable that music and fashion are constantly interacting and Lala The Pink Doll is the living proof.
It is after her major appearance and placing top ten at Magnum Kings & Queens Of Dancehall that Lala set her sights on solo stardom. Performing to an audience, the support of friends and new found fans gave the validation that music was indeed her destiny, after all as she says in her own words "If you believe you can achieve".
