Finally. After several years of showing great promise, dancehall artiste Tajji is realising his full potential.
The young firebrand, signed to Gourzong Music Production, is now lighting up the scene with a new combination hit song called My Time Now
alongside leading deejay Konshens. The song declares in no uncertain
terms, that it is Tajji's time to shine and the whole dancehall universe
seems to be in agreement.
"Everywhere ah bun up, every party and dance mi go ah night time,
it get play and mi go three to four events a night, so do di maths. Ah
just rave reviews, and the fact say Konshens is a hot artiste, that ah
gimme an extra boost in the streets," Tajji said in a release.
Known for his brilliant metaphors and his sing-a-long hooks,
Tajji has long been considered one of the brightest young dancehall
deejays in the game, but this is his first bonafide radio hit, and he is
going all out with the promotion.
Mi feel great
"My management is finalising talks to do a video because this song ah the biggest one for me so far, almost every disc jockey
on ZIP ah play it, the disc jocks on HITZ, and on Sunciti, and dem a
play it and ah pull it up, so mi feel great about everything," he said.
Tajji attended Excelsior High School alongside Konshens and
forged a friendship with him during basketball training for the junior
league school team.
"After we graduate, mi buck him in the streets, and even before
him buss, him did approach me about some possible management, but then
him go Japan after him get a hit song over there and when him come back
to Jamaica, him score with Winner, and tek off, and the contact
just get miss up.
Konshens always used to rate mi flow, but he never had
the time before now, but he always expressed an interest and mi respect
that, so right after the Xmas season, we link up and it happen," Tajji
said.
Tajji first rose to prominence with a song called That Dem A Say, which established his street credibility as an artiste to watch. The underground has been feeling That Dem A Say,
a soulful gem of a song that delves into the depths of the wickedness
that lies in men's souls. He has a string of other singles such as Mi Best Friend, Yu Can Call, and Worldwide, a collaboration with Spragga Benz. He is also known for writing some of I-Octane's greatest hit songs including My Life.
"Right now, mi a revamp and start fresh, put the face to the music, that is my main focus," he said.
Tajji is ready to bring his career to the next level. "Right now,
mi plan fi stand out, mi plan to show my writing skills different, that
ah my wow factor."
Tajji is still in Red Square, but has inked a management deal
with Gourzong Music Production. He is raising his visibility locally
with music videos and appearances on stage shows.
