Dancehall icon Bounty Killer and Grammy award-winning producers Sly and Robbie have teamed up with UK-based pop artiste/producer Deewaan, to release a collaboration called 'Runnin It Wild', which they believe has the potential to become a world-wide hit.
The song is expected to bring Bounty back into the pop market, following his highly successful collaboration with No Doubt in 2001, another song which featured works from musical geniuses Sly and Robbie.
According to Sly, one half of the duo, Runnin It Wild is a potential hit.
"It really sound's good and overall a nice track that people should add to their collection. It sounds like it can break through internationally," Sly said.
The instrumental for the song is all pop, coupled with the voice of Deewaan and the hard-core lyrics of Bounty Killer. Sly says producers from his era were moulded to be musically versatile.
"Most musicians my age group used to play in a band and we played different genres. So because of that, we have learnt how to embody all genres of music. Music is like a dream, you play a song 20 years ago then one day you wake up and it's a hit or somebody samples it. Because even this song, I didn't remember that we produced it until now," Sly said.
International success
Deewaan has already seen a speck of international success after inking a collaboration with American pop star Lady Gaga, for the remix of her Just Dance single. In the capacity of producer, Deewaan has done work on songs like Irie with Andrew and Wada Blood and Lockdown with Vybz Kartel and Ms Trinity.
According to the multi talented Deewaan, Runnin It Wild was written in a party atmosphere. However, he wanted of to get that authentic Caribbean feel into the final product. Hence, making the connection with Bounty Killer, Sly and Robbie.
"Runnin It Wild was written in Las Vegas while I was enjoying a night with some friends at the Tryst Nightclub in the Wynn Hotel. I was feeling the track so much, I flew back to the UK to record and produce the demo, and then I boarded a plane to Jamaica a few days later to record with Bounty Killer and Sly and Robbie," Deewaan said.
An animated music video is already being edited to accompany the song's promotion. The video shows Deewaan, Bounty Killer, Sly and Robbie as superheroes flying around the world in a red open-top bus and spaceship, dodging obstacles and picking up their super-beautiful heroine friends from different countries. They then head to their final destination, Las Vegas, where they conclude the excitement with a party.
With a full promo campaign planned around the release and video, the song is hoped to become one of the defining tunes of summer 2013.
"It's a smashing billboard hit that's really a killer. I love the track and I love how it's being promoted. The song is amazing based on how it was prepared and the final product that I am hearing," Bounty Killer said.
Bounty Killer's last pop collaboration, Hey Baby, with No Doubt, received a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. It also peaked at number five on Billboard's hot 100.
Sly and Robbie last week released the debut album for their artiste Danielle D.I., the album is called Sly and Robbie Presents Danielle DI The Rebel.
