Reggae artiste Christopher Martin has been signed by international record label VP Records. The artiste is expected to release multiple albums and partner with the label on touring and publishing efforts. Martin is also slated to release his debut album under VP Records in 2014.
According the Martin's manager, Lydon 'Kingy' Lettman, the artiste has done minor projects with the record label before. However, this marks the first time that both Martin and VP Records will embark on major projects together.
"We and VP met after they approached and said they wanted to do some work with us. So, after negotiations we came to a favourable decision and we are moving forward. The contract is for a few albums, so it depends on how the market is and how well the albums are doing. We are basically looking for the relationship to grow from there," Lettman said.
In a release, Chris Chin, CEO of VP Records, commended Christopher Martin and his musical abilities.
"We warmly welcome Christopher Martin to our family. His combination of vocal strength, outstanding stage presence and natural charisma are a winning formula for success, and we look forward to working with Christopher Martin and his team in the years ahead," Chin said.
Martin also expressed enthusiasm about joining forces with the label. He added that his new contract would propel his career to the next level.
"I am very happy to be working with VP. I've made major strides in my career as an independent artiste, and with the backing of VP plus all the hard work I will continue to put in, I strongly feel that the sky is the limit for me," the Cheaters Prayer singer said.
The artiste is gearing up for a performance in Guyana and will set off for several international shows in coming weeks. His single Cheaters Prayer was sampled by American rapper Jim Jones in January of this year.
