Internationally acclaimed Reggae superstar, Tarrus Riley continues his strong run in 2012 as he’s set to release the physical version of his latest album next month.
Mecoustic, a semi-acoustic compilation of Riley’s greatest hits to date, will be available in stores this September The 15-track set was initially unveiled via iTunes this past April as it was slowly unveiled within select markets.
Mecoustic features several of Tarrus Riley’s classics such as She’s Royal and Pick up the Pieces; singles that featured on the singer’s debut album, Parables in 2006. Prominent saxophonist, Dean Fraser, who produced Parables, collaborated with Riley on Mecoustic.
Along with Fraser, several instrumentalists also feature on Mecoustic, including guitarists, Mitchum ‘Khan’ Chin and Lamont Savory as well as Glen Browne and Michael Fletcher who play bass, Carol McLaughlin and Andrew Marsh who have keyboard responsibilities and Oral Broen as well as Sydney Watson, who played percussion and drums.
Black Mother Pray hails as another notable effort on Mecoustic as Tarrus Riley does an acoustic version of the song which was originally crafted by father and Reggae legend, Jimmy Riley.
Mecoustic will be distributed locally by Tad’s Record Inc. and internationally by French based Reggae label, Soulbeat Records.
