Director of marketing and publicity for Dream Entertainment, Kamal Bankay, said the move to Florida is in line with the growth and diversification of the Dream Weekend brand and will continue the work of advancing entertainment tourism in Jamaica.
"We want to push our brand and we are also seeking other markets to do so. Xtreme Wet N Wild, Yush and Daydreams will be part of the three-day party series that will be held on the Florida Keys. The location on the Keys was ideal because all the party spots and accommodation are on the same strip, similar to what we have with Dream Weekend in Negril," Bankay explained.
Dubbed 'Escape to the Florida Keys', BRT will feature five parties over the three days. Early-bird prices online are for US$140 and US$175 if purchased in stores, and this offer is valid until September 3, 2012.
General admission is US$200 and US$250 for VIP. In addition to the three top Dream Weekend events on the list, parties such as V and Aura are also part of the line-up. All the events will be held on Islamorada and Key Largo on Florida Keys.
Miami J'Ouvert, one of the new events on this year's Dream Weekend line-up, came out of Florida and this partnership, according to Bankay, helped to solidify the entertainment connection in hosting BRT.
"We've been working with the organisers of Miami J'Ouvert to help make BRT a reality. A lot of our patrons who attended the Dream events in Negril in August are from South Florida and so we want to replicate that entertainment experience come November. Dream Weekend parties are to Jamaica like what carnival is to Trinidad. It is an experience and we want to share that experience with persons in Florida, especially those who didn't get a chance to come to Jamaica," said Bankay.
This is Dream Weekend's first major stint outside of Jamaica; one Bankay pointed out, that will enhance Dream Entertainment's résumé in the area of being able to execute quality events locally and internationally.
