Cliff tops Billboard reggae chart

REGGAE great Jimmy Cliff is still making an impact internationally.

His latest release, Rebirth, sits atop the Billboard Reggae Album chart after an eight weeks.

After holding the runner-up spot last week, Rebirth edged out last week's number one album Easy Stars Thrillah, the project from the Easy Star All-Stars, which is now in third position.

In second spot is Spark Seeker from American Hassidic Jewish artiste Mastisyahu, who also holds the number 10 spot with his compilation, Playlist: The Very Best of Matisyahu.

Reggae king Bob Marley is also in this week's rankings. Marley: The Original Soundtrack by Bob Marley and the Wailers stands at number four.

Fifth position is occupied by The Orbserver In The Star House by The Orb featuring Lee 'Scratch' Perry.

This is followed by Peace of Mind by American reggae band Rebelution.

The perennial favourite, VP Records' compilation Reggae Gold, is at number seven after 11 weeks.

The remaining slots are held by Soja with Strength to Survive at number eight. This is one of the longest-standing albums on the chart, having been around for 32 weeks.

Ninth spot is held by British reggae band UB40 with 10 Great Songs.
