Dancehall artiste Ishawna is the temporary host of CVM's Hitlist show in the absence of former host Phoenix. According to Entertainment journalist and host of Dwrap entertainment show on CVM TV Saudica Diaram, the camera loves Ishawna."The camera loves her and she has a warm personality, females love the fashion, men love the image and this is another dimension for her as an artiste and it can only complement her career," Diaram said.
Ishawna, known to be one of the promising talents from Bounty Killer's Alliance camp, said her new role is fun filled.
"It's fun and it's different. I am an artiste and I never really tried hosting until Fiwi Choice countdown invited me to co-host for four weeks in Amita's absence and everybody loved it. After that, CVM called and asked me to do E-Strip for three weeks," she continued.
"I got some experience from being on Fiwi Choice, but this was a new experience because now I had to learn how to read from the teleprompter in front of a live audience, but it is a new experience for me and I enjoy doing it," she said.
Favourable responses
According to the singjay, she has been getting favourable responses from viewers.
"I have always got invitations from persons who want me to host programmes, but this is the first time I decided to go through with it. The response from people has been positive. This is something that I never thought I would be doing and I would definitely do more because I am an entertainer. I act and I perform, so this is just another form of entertainment, plus I get to be myself," she said.
Ishawna also hinted that there might be more appearances on television in the near future.
"People can expect to see more of me on television. Some things are in the pipeline, but I can't say anything much about it as yet. But 2012 is going well and 2013 will be even more hectic with even more movie roles. I am going to have a lot to do. I was good at English and literature at Meadowbrook High School, so that kinda helped to mould me. I wanted to go to university to pursue mass communication and that didn't work out, so it's funny how things are turning out the way I wanted it to now," she said.
Ishawna also has new singles promoting such as I Can Love You and Do For Love.
"My fans can follow me on twitter @Ishawna and facebook.com/ Ishawnamusic," she said.
CVM's E-Strip is aired on Fridays at 6 p.m., and on Saturdays at 7 p.m.
