As a registered nurse, Jemini Campbell is trained to comfort patients and help ease their pain. As an artiste, she takes a similar approach.
She describes her music as a "balm to troubled spirits which helps to motivate and inspire."
Born in Toronto, Canada, to Jamaican parents, the singer is in Jamaica completing an album with producer Barry O'Hare.
"I've always wanted to work with producers in Jamaica and Barry O'Hare is legendary," she said.
Jemini made the link with O'Hare through another Canada reggae act, singer Chardavid (formerly Iley Dread) who introduced them.
O'Hare is a major figure in Ocho Rios music, who has produced or engineered projects by artistes like Burning Spear.
Now working alongside Chardavid's Kings of Kings company, Jemini is promoting Rebel with a Cause, a song which was released late last year in Canada.
"The song was written in support of abused women and I want to highlight something that's being pushed under the carpet," she said.
The money from sales of this single, Jemini says, will be donated to a women's shelter in Toronto.
Jemini, who is in her early 30s, has been a registered nurse for seven years and works in Toronto.
She says her first song, No Turning Back, was well received in her hometown. Another track, a collaboration with Chardavid, will be released next month.
