"Jamaica's Supa Gangsta From Norman Manley International to Sangsta" are words fans use to identify the Jamaican thug known as Thugsy Malone.
Malone, real name, Donovan Drysdale, has just released his latest video on September 11, as the artiste has been keeping himself busy in the studios, while doing a slew of road shows and stage performances.
However, Thugsy Malone is ready to sweep the airwaves with tracks that are sure to send fans into a musical frenzy. The Wash Away The Pain hitmaker has topped CVM Hitlist Charts, not once, but twice, with songs like, My Money and Wash Away The Pain, in just under a year, proving to critics that he is indeed a force to be reckoned with in the musical arena.
Stints and roadshows
Thugsy Malone received rave reviews from fans and colleagues within the industry, and has also garnered the respect from corporate Jamaica when he did a thrilling performance at the Digicel roadshow held in St Elizabeth. Also, the same positive vibe was meted out to the talented artiste at Aidonia's stage show held At The Spot in Spanish Town.
"Trust me, big up to Aidonia for having me perform at his show, the feedback was positive," quipped Malone.
The artiste also has upcoming stints for Christmas, which he says will allow him to connect with his fans. "I have a song now in heavy rotation, on the Tuff Head rhythm produced by Truck Back, titled: Sort Out, also Baby Be True has been doing very well on iTunes, which is a Nature's Way production. Also there is a song that's gonna take the place by storm called Converse, produced by True Loyal Label," an enthused Malone said.
There is another video, which has been recently released, that is sure to top the charts not only locally but on the international stage. The video is titled Sort Out, directed by Fiwi Films which takes on the 'rags to riches' concept. The video, subtly takes the viewer through the different towns of Bull Bay and Spanish Town and reflects the struggle and hardship of the people.
The artiste also has some interesting projects in the pipelines, as he is now poised to throw his hat fully into the 'business side' of music. "I have plans in place to work with producer Snow Cone, also. I just recorded a song produced by Davy from Open Ear Music, and a track called: Unconditional Love, produced by Typhoon Music Group."
The My Money hitmaker further shared that he is working towards forming his own record label called Trespass Music. "Some producers don't want to give the upcoming artistes a chance, if yuh nuh hot den yuh a guh suffer. I just want to be in a position someday to help other artistes like myself," he said.
As the artiste continues to make strides, he also has a song, We Shall Overcome, slated to be released on his new label, produced by Turan Mowatt.
When asked what message he had for upcoming artistes that would love to make it big in the music industry, he said, "Work with who believes in you and your work also remain humble at all times, learn the business side of the music. I would also love to give a special shout out to the people who actually gave me a chance."
