
Commenting on the song, which stresses black pride, Scratchylus says it was inspired from "not hearing the other side of the story".
According to the London-born singjay, who has roots in St Thomas, he ended up going to the libraries after school and doing his own research with the help of a librarian.
He said Our Story has been in the works for some time.
"It actually came to mind while I was performing as a soldier in the Crimean War in (the play) The Black Heroes Hall of Fame in the UK," he said.
"The song will give a child the confidence to develop researching skills and help to create awareness and confidence, and as a result help free children from insecurities because ignorance breeds fear," he reasoned.
His eight-year-old daughter Empress Reggae also appears on Our Story.
Black History Month is celebrated in October in the United Kingdom.
