Chronixx and Raging Fyah complete the confirmed line-up of artistes to perform on the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival scheduled for January 24-26 at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium.
Chronixx, who will perform for the first time on the 'Jazz' stage, will perform on Saturday, January 26 while Raging Fyah will take the stage on Friday, January 25. Both upcoming acts have quickly made a significant impact on the musical landscape.
Chronixx surfaced on the scene with his popular mixtape Start a Fyah. His hit singles Warrior, Behind Curtain and They Don't Know have also attracted significant attention.
The young warrior has a spectacular performance in store for his fans. "All eyes will be on righteous music and King Sellassie at Jazz and Blues," he said.
Kumar Bent, lead singer of Raging Fyah says that the group is looking forward to the performance. "We are pleased to once again grace the festival line-up, where music isn't biased and is appreciated by a wide audience on a world-class stage in Jamaica," he said.
A special love for music
Chronixx always had a special love for music and the visual arts. He started composing and producing 'riddims' at the age of 16 for artistes such as Konshens and Munga Honorable. His early achievements include the Freezer Riddim for Icebox Records and voicing artistes such as Popcaan for Maverick Records.
A strong Thursday-night kick-off features a reggae dance party headlined by internationally acclaimed Jamaican band Third World, celebrating an astonishing 40 years in the business, along with a host of reggae heavyweights.
Patrons who come out on Friday night will be treated to the sounds of Mary J. Blige, Michael Bolton, Barbadian jazz/reggae saxophonist Arturo Tappin and the Strong One Etana.
Romain Virgo starts off Saturday night with a performance dedicated to the ladies. His performance will give way to John Legend, Monica, Dionne Warwick and KC and the Sunshine Band.
According to Junior Taylor, associate producer of the festival, "we have brought back some favourites, guaranteed crowd pleasers such as Dionne Warwick, John Legend, Mary J. Blige and Michael Bolton and we have added people like Monica and KC and the Sunshine Band who will be gracing the Festival's stage for the first time. That combination, which eptiomises the high standard of the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, is guaranteed to have the more than 20-thousand-strong audience singing and dancing," he said.
