Tarrus Riley for back-to-school treat

ON Saturday, January 5, Give Back Promotions and Reggae Release will present the third Back-To-School Treat at MacSum Avenue in Kingston.

Give Back Promotions, a non-profit organisation, was formed in 2010 by Joel Channer. Its objective is to help needy children from communities in the Kingston 13 area.

"The company was formed on the premise that education is the key.

"Funding and supplies derived from this initiative will be used as aid, school supplies and extra-class tuition, especially for children sitting the GSAT examination," said Channer.

Reggae Release's CEO Shinado Chusney emphasised the need for sustainable development in inner- city communities.

"This is just a tiny fraction of what needs to be done to improve the lives of some of our inner-city kids. Some of them will be seeing their favourite entertainment personalities for the first time.

"Their little minds will get a break from the negativity that sometimes surrounds them," Chusney said.

Tarrus Riley, Warrior King, Chilando, Nature, Red Dragon, Danny English and Devra Bratt are expected to perform.

Staffers from the ministry of health will conduct health checks for the children.
