New Grammy Lifetime Award for Bob Marley

REGGAE superstar Bob Marley was recently honoured with a new Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

According to examiner.com, the award was a replacement for the statue - which had been damaged - that Marley posthumously received in 2001.

The award was presented to the late singer's eldest son Ziggy and daughter Karen after a Recording Academy screening of the documentary Marley at the Los Angeles Film School on Sunset Boulevard recently.

According to the website, Recording Academy personnel were on Jamaica visiting and saw that the award had been damaged.

Neil Portnow, Recording Academy president and CEO called Bob Marley's music "songs of faith, devotion and revolution."

Marley was diagnosed with cancer and died in May 1981.
