Bun song wasn't for girl's ex-lover

David Taylor, more popularly known as Wickerman, has refuted claims that it was a song done by his former associate and performing partner Captain Barkey that triggered the actions of his attacker.

Wickerman's claim comes on the heels of reports which surfaced yesterday, claiming that Captain Barkey taunted his attacker in a song titled Nah Lef Joe which was released in 2010.

According to New York Daily News, friends of entertainer Wayne 'Captain Barkey' Hamilton and his girlfriend 38-year-old Tracy Bennett are theorising that the reggae singer apparently taunted the killer.

The main suspect in the fatal attack on the two has since been identified as 42-year-old Haitian, Joseph 'Country' Kernizan.

Kernizan, is also the father of Bennett's two youngest children, ages12 and seven years old.
Information, according to www.nydailynews.com is that Wayne Hamilton, who was shot to death alongside Tracy Bennett outside Holiday Motel, taunted Joseph Kernizan in song Nah Lef Joe.

THE STAR understands that police are hunting Kernizan, who, up to press time was still at large.
According to the Daily News, the popular reggae singer who was gunned down with his secret girlfriend outside a Bronx hotel, had taunted his romantic rival and accused killer in song.

In the song titled Nah Lef Joe, Captain Barkey sang of bedding a woman, then stated in the chorus, "She tell me she nah lef Joe."

Wickerman, when contacted by THE STAR, characterised as foolishness the conclusion that Captain Barkey's song was the reason for the attack.

A just vibes

He told our news team, " A nuh no song cause it ... there are a lot of songs that speak to bunning that can be drawn from Barkey's catalogue ... A just vibes come into yuh when u do a song enuh ... is only because of this now why people a talk so. Look how much years Barkey do Bun Fi Bun, why dem never put that song into perspective ... man get bun and woman get bun."

Wickerman continued, "That girl jus love Barkey and anyweh him deh she find him ... From dem met in St Elizabeth at a stage show sometime ago".

Wickerman also told THE STAR that the death of Barkey has taken a toll on him.

"News of his death affect me a lot enuh, a from 1987 Capt Barkey and Wickerman a come from enuh ... is like me brother, me and him do everything ... travel together and grow together from dancehall days til now", expressed Wickerman.

Wickeman told our news team that although both had individual songs they had plans of continuing their comedic, collaborative craft when they got older if no one else had risen to prominence.

However, he says Captain Barkey has left him now without the possibility of carrying out that plan.
Meanwhile, Mavis Hamilton, wife of Captain Barkey, reportedly said she knew nothing of her late husband's affair with Tracy Bennett.

In expressing how she felt about his passing, she was quoted as saying, "He was the funniest, kindest, most loving person you would ever meet".
