New 'sex gadgets' excite party patrons

With party fans craving more excitement at events, some local promoters have turned to sexual gadgets to please their patrons.

The male sexual organ is just one of the tools which have been used to visually attract female patrons.
Patrons at events are now being given penis-shaped lollipops and candies as soon as they enter parties.

According to female promoter AnaMarie 'CSI' Moodie, sex is a big pull factor.

"Promoters are just going out of the ordinary, plus it's easier to market a male penis in the form of a candy to the females rather than to market a vagina candy to the males. Men love to see the females eating the penis lollipops or cakes but you won't see them putting themselves under scrutiny," she said.

According to Moodie, despite the stigma attached to some sexual acts, people today have become more bold.

"Vybz Kartel made certain things less taboo and so females are now openly exposing their freakiness. But as for males, certain things remain taboo. Even with body bars, the females are always the ones eating from the partially nude body, females are the lives of the party, I guess."

Dray Allure, promoter of sex- themed party, 'Dirty Desires', also agrees that sex sells.

"The concept is that sex sells, and anywhere you can attract women, the males will follow. The younger set of Jamaicans are attracted to these things and dem ting deh intriguing, it's all about knowing your target audience," he said.

In the meantime, bakery operator at the St Catherine-based Fabulous Cakes by Alana says sex-themed cakes are on high demand by promoters.

"To me, it's becoming monotonous now, because it is becoming a trend. People have been asking for different sizes of cakes shaped like penises, and they want strange things to be done with it. I don't know how to say this without sounding graphic but some even want the outside to look like ejaculation," Alana said.

Alana says she gets a minimum of eight of these types of cake orders per month.

"I did the first one in 2008, but it is increasing now because more people are finding out about it," she said.
