The Producers of the popular and well-received Nite Lyfe TV show featured on CVM Television have joined forces with Mykal Fax, famous actor (Bashment, The Roaming Lion, Runnin' Time, The Almighty Clock) and writer (Jamaican Mafia) in what is being described as the "biggest film to come out of the US featuring world-famous Jamaican talent".
Jamaican Mafia is a gangster thriller in the vein of Goodfellas and Shottas as it follows Zoolian Anderson (Zoo-Zoo), a frustrated car salesman who desperately desires riches and respect.
Zoo-Zoo then discovers that he is the nephew of a powerful crime boss and decides to quit the corporate world to join the illicit organisation better known as the 'Jamaican Mafia'.
Production of the movie is scheduled to begin in August, and the plan is to target adult audiences, which are expected to love and admire this exciting and creative body of work and talent.
Screenwriter Mykal Fax said: "I think the world will be very excited to see the profile of the Jamaican organised-crime syndicate. Jamaicans are not only known as great athletes and musicians, but are also revered as bad boys and gangsters. So I think just like Italians became so successful from mafia films, Jamaicans can have a similar fate with movies based on the street-credibility factor. And with a marvelous screenplay that is actually based on actual events, Jamaican Mafia will be as highly acclaimed as films such as Scarface and Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas."
Make movie history
As producer for this project, Orville Matherson (A Dance For Grace, Nite Lyfe TV) believes the film has the potential to make movie history with regard to the depiction of the lives of mobsters in a raw form and feels very privileged to be able to contribute to its on-screen creation and development.
Producer Elvis Griffiths (Nite Lyfe TV) said: "With experience comes knowledge. As someone in the arts industry and a true lover of well-organised productions, I hereby state that Jamaican Mafia will be one of the best movies established by an international team. This movie will seek to educate, entertain, and also titillate the minds of viewers with its suspense and will captivate audiences with its dramatic and straightforward action scenes. I am pleased to be working with some of the best minds that this world has to offer and hereby honourably accept the role of producer on this wonderfully scripted film."
Jamaican Mafia is a film done by Mykal Fax in conjunction with Yaad Boiiz Productions, Kingston 11 Films, and Donzo Productions.
