Gaza Maxwell has a high level of confidence for his latest song, Summer Ya Charp.
He said it is his most played song thus far and "everybody a gravitate to it". Its video, he said, is also "doing wonders on YouTube".
The singjay, who received some amount of recognition in entertainment circles from his association with the Vybz Kartel-led Gaza camp, says that he also has a couple of songs that are in their final stages and will soon be released. Among them, Run To Me for Frass Out Productions, Come Back for Kimichi Records, Money for Dane Sortout and Gal Strength for Charlie Pro.
But despite the recent disbanding and controversy surrounding the Gaza camp, he still goes by the name that was coined while he was a member. Why? "A because of the realness a mi heart. That energy weh Kartel put out really bring me to the world, coming from a state weh a fight mi did a fight fi di world see mi. Him just seh singer hear wah gwan, wi have a song fi do, forward. Mi just haffi always remember seh respect goes out to Adidja Palmer, suh mi nah move it and Maxwell a mi real name," he said.
His Bad Wi Nah Fi Talk video will be shot later this week on the Crush Time rhythm. The song has been already released and "doing damage in Japan".
"Right now, wi a do the music and a get calls from everywhere. Right now the people dem a beg fi mi in the small islands," he shared.
Gaza Maxwell has upcoming performances in the US Virgin Islands and in Trinidad, where his song Come Back has been doing fairly well.
Presence
He plans to increase his presence in Jamaica through capitalising on his unique sound. "After me and Addi do a song name Bun Fi Bun wi deh pon the outside a ketch a vibes. Him a deejay him part an him just stop and seh 'Yuh know seh a you ago gimmi di Grammy'. Why? Because mi have a different sound. Jamaica soon start hear my sound. People oversees a push it, dem a knock it and a play mi music hard," he said.
He wants music lovers to just keep an ear and eye open for his work as he believe that his time to shine is near. "Big up Tommy Lee, big up Popcaan, but the bigga big up for the Worl Boss. Mi just waan the world fi have two ears out and two eyes open. Go YouTube, iTunes, SoundCloud, and even Google Gaza Maxwell and yuh find out seh the thing a gwaan good," he said.
