Guinness counts down to Arthur's Day concerts

As the seven-day countdown to Arthur's Day 2012 begins, excitement is mounting for what is set to be the most remarkable Arthur's Day celebration to date.

With a host of A-list artistes performing in selected venues across 55 countries around the globe, over the past six weeks Guinness has revealed the stellar Arthur's Day line-up for Jamaica, which will include Sizzla, Popcaan, Destra and Kerwion Dubois. Just added to the line-up is dancehall superstar Mavado, who has not performed in Jamaica for over a year.

Mavado is quite excited and says he has a great set planned for the celebration.

These Caribbean music stars will lead the 2012 celebrations to honour the life and legacy of Arthur Guinness - the founder of this world-renowned Irish stout.

Raising a toast to Arthur is an intrinsic part of the annual festivities and is fast becoming a tradition for Guinness fans around the world to kick off the evening of remarkable music performances. With the announcements of the highly anticipated line-up now nearly complete and Great Britain joining the celebrations for the first time ever, countries including Spain, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Germany, Australia and Ireland, to name a few, are preparing to welcome these artistes ahead of what is set to be a truly extraordinary evening.

Guinness has also disclosed that a series of exclusive collaborations between these artistes is set to happen at selected locations, making for a truly unique musical experience for fans of the iconic drink.

A celebration of substance since it began, Arthur's Day also puts the spotlight on the work of some of the world's most dedicated social entrepreneurs. Offering these carefully selected social entrepreneurs mentoring and funding, the Arthur Guinness Fund is designed to support those who, like Arthur, are in the business of changing communities for the better.

Through Arthur's Day, Guinness has already committed nearly €8 million to the Arthur Guinness Fund, continuing the philanthropic legacy of its founder year after year.

Dancehall star Popcaan, who will be performing in Kingston on September 27, commented, "I think my good works in my communities represent community development, because I focus on education and sports for the youth, and I think this is the key for all communities to be sustainable and move out of poverty".
