Jlance rising from the west

The beautiful parish of Westmoreland has given Jamaica a handful of music stars, including reggae music icon Peter Tosh, Patra, Richie Stephens and the Itals. Now a talented young man hailing from the hills of Darliston in the parish is looking to emulate the success of these great artistes.

While he may not be the only aspiring star from the parish, Jlance, whose real name is Jamardo Gardener, is certainly one of the most talented and determined artistes from Westmoreland.

"I'm very serious about my career, I want to go all the way to the top of the game. I'm working hard to achieve this goal. I know true success can only be achieved through hard work and dedication, so I'm putting in the work."

The singjay launched his career in 2009 when he began recording at the Negril-based Lazeme Studio, which is owned and operated by Dwayne Bachas aka Jah Wayne. In a short period, Jlance has amassed an impressive catalogue of songs which includes the inspirational My Mother, Here We Go, Video Light and Why Now.

"I got started in the music biz in 2009 by working with Jah Wayne at Lazeme Studio and since then I have recorded a number of songs for him and other producers. Most of these tracks have received rotation both locally and internationally. I am looking to move forward and take my career further now that I have set a foundation on which I can build. The plan is to take my career to a national level and then go internationally," he said.

Jlance is currently busy in the studios working on a number of new singles as well as his soon-to-be released mixed tape.

He is also booked for a number of events.
On Friday, September 21, he will be performing live at the Oasis hotel in Ocho Rios alongside Flexxx, Wasp, Kibaki, Tiana and Savage. The following month he will perform at the Trelawny Fiesta.

Jlance's song's are available on Itunes and all other leading Internet music stores.
