Zumjay ecstatic about hit single

Deejay Zumjay is ecstatic about the progress of his radio hit single, Rock That Body, on the Chase Millz Records, which jumped on to local charts in Jamaica over the summer.

"The response to Rock That Body has been phenomenal in the nightclubs in New York, Connecticut and Philadelphia. The Labour Day weekend gave the song a major boost, the song right now ah the baddest ting, Chuck T as the musician, Snowcone and Claude Mills as the producers, mi just have to say big-up because the campaign ah work inna Queens, Bronx. IRIE JAM play it on the Parkway on Monday, the rhythm shot, people ah say Rock That Body," Zumjay said.

Zumjay said that thousands of persons crammed the Eastern Parkway to experience the West Indian Day Parade on Monday and those persons heard his song blaring out the speakers from trucks in the parade.

"The girls were rocking their bodies to my song, the Mercury rhythm play all through the parade, the Spragga, the Beenie Man, the Khago and my song, Rock That Body play on the truck. The video ah get great play all over New York, White Plains, Flatbush, and it ah play a yard pon RE, HYPE, MD TV, LINKS, the promotion mad in the underground. Steelie Bashment ah buss it off at Wah Gwaan Wednesdays inna Temptations inna Brooklyn every week, the ting look bright," he said.

In the meantime, the Rock That Body single jumped two places on the HYPE TV Top 20 charts to #15.

"It's a great look so far, it's my first hit song in a while and the feeling is great, I am excited," he said.

The deejay, who is known for hits such as Zumjay News, Courtney and I'm High, has always been a consistent force in dancehall. This year, he did recordings for Richie Loop of the Big Yard Music Label/Scikron Entertainment and Steven 'Lenky' Marsden's Diwali Records. He also did a combination with Craigy Dread called On It.

"In the next couple of months, maybe October, I will be back in Jamaica to promote Rock That Body, because the feedback has been great so far," Zumjay said.
