'In Memories' rhythm project a hit
'In Memories', the new rhythm project from Down Sound Records, is a must listen for any reggae-dancehall fan searching the airwaves for a new exciting sound.
The rhythm is a hip-hop influenced beat with a mournful haunting bassline and powerful, well-produced songs that are going to connect with anyone who is in pain from a broken relationship, the cruel, unexpected passing of a loved one, or feeling darkness over some wicked betrayal by a trusted friend.
The standout track on the rhythm is Ishawna's remarkable vocals on Murderer, a track which uses a sample of Buju Banton's seminal dancehall hit with good effect. Ishawna channels early 2000s J Lo with the line: It's such a shame but I am leaving/me ah girl weh no tek bwoy beating.
Bounty, Ninja - Deejays feel promoter dissed them
With just a few weeks until the greatest one-night show on Earth,
deejays Bounty Killer and Ninja Man are now back-pedalling and claim
that they will not be performing at this year's Sting.
Speaking with THE STAR, Ninja Man vehemently stated that he would not be doing Sting because promoter Isaiah Laing has been ungrateful.
"Mr Laing is a very ungrateful person. Him a try replace me, but him know say if me did deh pon Sting, any deejay weh try clash me wudda dead. Laing nuh know what it takes fi make Sting happen. Him say me nuh impress him, but mi nah try impress no man inna dancehall, mi try impress the girls dem. I don't need Sting. Mi a businessman, mi nuh bruk and hungry," Ninja Man said.
He went on to say that Laing, during a recent television interview, disrespected him and has left him no choice but to boycott the show.

Glen Washington earns a second Grammy nomination
The artiste was last nominated in 2004 for his studio effort called Wanna Be Loved and now for his latest album Glen Washington Masterpiece.
"I wanted to do an album with a variety of songs with different vibes and melodies and having achieved that we decided to call it Masterpiece," said Washington.
The artiste expressed excitement and a feeling of accomplishment after the announcement.
Chronixx
The atmosphere was cool and relaxing, which proved to be the perfect setting for the musical onslaught to come. The stage was shared by both reggae veterans and newcomers who hope to one day become veterans themselves. An energetic Kabaka Pyramid opened the show, armed with an array of lethal lyrical quips and backed by the One Drop Band. The young artiste definitely started off the evening on a high note and even invited onstage fellow reggae freshman Chronixx for a well-received collaboration. Both artistes left no doubt that there is still a bright future for reggae music coming out of Jamaica.

Sophia Brown apologises to LA fans, promoter
Reggae performer Sophia Brown is apologising to her many fans
for not appearing at a concert she was to perform at in California
recently.
Brown, always the true professional, was to have performed on October 20 at the Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood, California, along with veterans Bush Man and Frankie Paul. However, she was unable to make the trip. "I would like to extend my humblest apologies to Joyce Production for not being able to attend. My absence was for reasons beyond my control," Brown said. "I also want to apologise to my fans in Los Angeles (LA) for not being able to make it there. I was really looking forward to the performance. Although I have performed in LA many times, I was really excited to perform for this Jamaican diaspora for the first time. Again, I would like to apologise to the Joyce Production team for not being present. I have returned the deposit for the concert and I hope I have the opportunity to work with Joyce Production again."

'Do For Love' burning up the airwaves
Down Sound recording artistes Specialist and Ishawna have been
burning up the airwaves with their new R&B flavoured single, Do For
Love.
The popular single has already jumped into a number of local charts, and is a favourite of dancehall mixtapes for the month of October.
"It's been getting a lot of feedback, everyone is loving it, the single is already on a number of charts, it is on HYPE, RE, Suzie Q, CVM, and on ER; it is just amazing what it is doing," Ishawna said in a release.
The duo have been giving steamy performances of the playful single all across the island, with Specialist's thug-look and hardcore vocals synchronising well with Ishawna's ice-cream smooth voice.

Bob Marley among top five 'Earning Dead Celebs' according to Forbes.com
More than 30 years after his death, reggae singer Bob Marley continues to earns millions and has found himself among the 'Top Earning Dead Celebrities'.
In a recent post, the popular Forbes.com has Marley ranked at number five on the list, earning US$17 million last year.
"The reggae star has become a diversified businessman from beyond the grave. There is even now a Marley beverage company which sells Marley's Mellow Mood, a 'relaxation' drink. Then there's the House of Marley which sells headphones, speakers and 'lively up' bags," the website said, in a post that was published recently.
At that position, Marley only comes behind actress Elizabeth Taylor, who is at first place with US$210 million; singer Michael Jackson, who placed second at US$145 million; Elvis Presley at third with US$55 million; and cartoonist Charles Schulz at US$37 million.
