'Do For Love' burning up the airwaves

Down Sound recording artistes Specialist and Ishawna have been burning up the airwaves with their new R&B flavoured single, Do For Love.

The popular single has already jumped into a number of local charts, and is a favourite of dancehall mixtapes for the month of October.

"It's been getting a lot of feedback, everyone is loving it, the single is already on a number of charts, it is on HYPE, RE, Suzie Q, CVM, and on ER; it is just amazing what it is doing," Ishawna said in a release.

The duo have been giving steamy performances of the playful single all across the island, with Specialist's thug-look and hardcore vocals synchronising well with Ishawna's ice-cream smooth voice.

"We performed it at Ocho Rios Explosion, we've done it at other events such as Seafood Festival in Ocho Rios, and at stage shows in other parishes. We have performed it live on TVJ, and CVM, and the feedback each time has been incredible. I have been getting calls from New York and England saying that they love the single, so it is doing well on the international scene, feeling blessed right now," Ishawna said.

The single is a racy remake of Do for Love (originally titled Sucka 4 Luv in its unreleased form), the second posthumously released single by Tupac Shakur from his second posthumous album R U Still Down? (Remember Me).

The vocal sample is from What You Won't Do for Love by Bobby Caldwell. It charted at #21 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #12 in the UK.

Produced by Cordel 'Skatta' Burrell, the single is also Specialist's second major charting single in the past year, following on the runaway success of Banana Chips. Last week, Do For Love hit #8 on the ER Dancehall top ten charts.
